Written Safety Program Review

The backbone of a company’s safety initiative is its written program. It not only sets the overall expectations, it also serves as the guide for decision making in daily operations.

With almost 100 years of combined experience in occupational safety consulting among its Senior Associates, Jurgiel has performed countless reviews of these programs and has helped its clients avoid some common pitfalls, such as:

  • Failure to customize a generic template program
  • Intermingling of “guidelines” with mandates
  • Incorrect regulatory interpretations
  • Missing components
  • Outdated information
  • Inconsistencies and contradictions

Regulatory Compliance Assessments & VPP

Jurgiel & Associates has conducted regulatory compliance assessments and occupational safety consulting for over four decades with the goal of:

  • Helping its clients recognize the standards that apply to their operations
  • Assisting with the interpretation of those standards
  • Identifying any shortcomings in the application of the requirements
  • Outlining a path of corrective action, as necessary, to ensure conformity with the law

For clients facing regulatory action by the government, Jurgiel has reviewed OSHA citations, participated in informal conferences, and assisted with the implementation of corrective actions.

For those striving for Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) certification, Jurgiel can assist with strategy development, identification of necessary processes and procedures, and preparation of documentation and training.

Site Safety & Health Plans (SSHPs)

Jurgiel has written numerous SSHPs for construction, renovation, and remediation projects where those documents were required, either as part of the bid package or to fulfill the client’s own internal policy. Because company owners, project managers, and general contractors all want an SSHP that has a real chance at preventing injuries and illnesses, Jurgiel takes the time to research and understand the nature of the project and to assemble a set of customized requirements that can mitigate risk rather than simply checking a box.

Mine Safety

Jurgiel & Associates is proud to provide consulting services to its clients who are specifically governed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). With Jurgiel’s aid, these companies continually seek to reduce the risk of injury and illness to their employees who are exposed on a daily basis to the unique conditions that can exist in both surface and underground mines.
